Framework

Ghent University  is a partner in a new Inter--‐University Attraction Pole (IUAP) funded by Belgian Science Policy (BELSPO): “The soil system under global change” (SOGLO). This IUAP is coordinated by Université catholique de Louvain (Prof. B. van Wesemael) and also includes Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Universiteit Antwerpen and several reputed European research institutes and universities. The projects research sites are located in Greenland, Belgium, Spain and Ethiopia. The project is highly integrative and includes a total of 8 PhD positions and two post--‐docpositions. A summary of the entire IUAP can be found on page2--‐4.

Prof. Pascal Boeckx of Ghent University (Belgium) is PI in the IUP for the following topic:

Sensitivity of soil organic carbon to disturbance

This PhD--‐project covers WP2 in the below project summary and is in collaboration with Prof. R. Merckx from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
